AI WEIWEI
Ai Weiwei takes historical artifacts and re-contextualizes them. Sometimes making them useless.
Study of Perspective series tackles power and architecture i.e., authority, as is his shtick to be a sort of a rebel; he is famous in China more for his iconoclastic endeavors(disseminating information through his infamous blog and getting battered by the police, etc) than for his art itself.
Ai Weiwei's wife poses for him. Here, a very nutty, provocative gesture for a Chinese woman.
"Ai Weiwei, (born 1957, Beijing) is a leading Chinese artist, curator, architectural designer, cultural and social commentator and activist[1][2]. Ai is known for the design of the Beijing National Stadium, more commonly known as the "Bird's Nest", the main stadium of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing " - From Wikipedia
